Located just off San Francisco in the heart of Zona Centro, this cozy cafe offers a calm retreat after exploring the lively streets of San Miguel de Allende. Many visitors come here for the warm, comforting churros paired with rich, carefully crafted hot or cold chocolates, whether it’s a sweeter, lighter sip or something thicker and more traditional. Alongside the churros, you’ll find a thoughtful selection of salads and light bites that balance the menu for anytime dining.
The atmosphere is quietly bustling — a mix of locals, tourists, university students, and groups all sharing the space in a relaxed, casual setting. It’s the kind of place where you might sit solo with a coffee and watch the day unfold or gather with friends over small plates and a glass of wine or beer at the bar. The space feels historic and low-key without trying too hard, inviting lingering conversations or a peaceful moment alone.
Because it’s popular among a wide range of diners, including families with kids and those stopping by for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you’ll likely find the cafe lively but still intimate. Reservations are recommended, especially for brunch or dinner, as the cozy seating can fill up quickly. Practical notes: parking is generally easy with free street spots nearby, and the location offers wheelchair-accessible parking and facilities. Just keep in mind that they accept debit cards but often operate on a cash-only basis.
Whether you’re drawn by the idea of a quiet morning coffee, a midday break with a fresh salad, or an evening treat of warm chocolate and churros, this spot quietly holds a special place for those looking for a genuine, local taste experience in the center of town.

"Good service, flavorful food, reasonable prices and calm atmosphere."
"🤮🤢 We ordered a couple dishes with chicken and the chicken was spoiled!!!"
"Nice restaurant, great prices for the overpriced San Miguel."
5 We have been for 3 days in the city and we visited the place 3 times. It is really awesome. Original, friendly and so tastefull what you get. Definitely you should go here!
4 San Agustín serves good churros. The place is so popular that you’ll likely have to wait quite a while, but the atmosphere is lovely and cosy, definitely worth the visit.
5 Well it definitely lived up to it's reputation as the best churros in SMA! I had a sencillo and a stuffed one with cajeta. It was really delicious and I highly recommend this place. Just keep in mind, they only take cash, no cards.
5 Café San Agustín is the place to go if you’re craving something sweet and absolutely magical. This churro spot is famous for a reason it truly lives up to the hype. We tried a few different options, and my personal favorite was the Lechera. If you love caramel, you won’t be disappointed. A close second was the Cajeta, also delicious. One note to take into consideration, this is a very popular place so don’t be in a rush when visiting, the staff put you on a waiting list and are super helpful. But bare in mind that you might need to wait 15 minutes. A must-visit for anyone with a sweet tooth!
5 We had the white and milk hot cocoa and churros for dessert! It was simply delicious. Cash only!!
5 They serve upscale food. I had the stuffed chicken breast. It was good, but not great. My husband had the fajitas. The churros and chocolate we're amazing. Nice quiet atmosphere, even though they are always packed.
5 The best churros I’ve had in my life. It was so addicting and just overall delicious. A lot of churros I’ve had before just feel too oily and I don’t go beyond 1 piece but this one, no. I could have had more pieces if I didn’t just come from a big meal. It was really that good. We also had an iced latte and iced chocolate and they had different options for the chocolate but we for the iced one, I think this is the only option. It was the French chocolate one and it was also delicious. Perfectly refreshing and perfectly paired with the churro. I would go back to SMDA just for this alone.
5 This Churrería is belong to Una actriz Argentina Margarita Gralia. This is a popular spot Get there early the lines are long. The churros are amazing, the hot chocolate delicious. It is worth the wait
The churros are a big hit, especially the stuffed ones with cajeta or lechera, and their hot cocoa also comes highly recommended.
It’s great for both—a cosy spot to linger over coffee and desserts or a quick sweet stop during your day.
The place can get quite busy, so visiting outside peak meal times might give you a better chance of getting seated quickly.
It works well for groups, couples, and solo diners alike, offering a casual and cosy atmosphere.
No, they only accept cash, so it’s best to come prepared.
Yes, the cafe is wheelchair accessible and has high chairs for kids, making it family-friendly and comfortable for most visitors.
